The mayor of the capital district “Studentski” from “Democratic Bulgaria” will run as an independent candidate

The current mayor of the metropolitan district “Studentski” Petko Goranov announced that he will fight for a new mandate as an independent candidate in the local elections on October 29 . In 2019, Goranov was a candidate of “Democratic Bulgaria”. He is a member of the DSB.

In a video address, Goranov says that the candidacy for mayor of the “Studentski” district has been ceded by “Democratic Bulgaria” to the partner for the elections in Sofia – “We continue the change”. He adds that he is not recognized by his political force as a candidate and has not been explained why.

During the presentation of the candidate of “We continue the change” and “Democratic Bulgaria” Vasil Terziev for mayor of Sofia, it was announced that the formation will announce all its nominations for regional mayors and municipal councilors by the end of July. Candidates are still unknown, apart from those presented together with Terziev – Georgi Iliev (current mayor of “Slatina” district), Delyan Georgiev (“Izgrev” district), Traicho Traikov (“Sredets” district).

In a conversation with the chairman of the civil movement “BOETS” Georgi Georgiev at the beginning of July, Goranov says that the son of Vasil Terziev’s grandfather’s brother – Pavel Terziev, who was an employee of the Sixth Department of State Security, wanted to recruit him through 1986, but he refused.
